The music of possibility

This video of Patrick Henry Hughes was uploaded just over four years ago. It bears re-visiting.

Born without eyes and unable to walk or fully straighten his arms and legs, Patrick might have become just another sad story. His father’s fierce love and Patrick’s own determination changed the ending.

Patrick showed an aptitude for piano when he was still a baby. By the time he entered the University of Louisiana, he was an accomplished pianist, singer and trumpet player. When the U of L’s marching band performed, Patrick’s father maneuvered the young man’s wheelchair through the complicated formations.

Now Patrick is a college graduate. In 2008 his book, I Am Potential: Eight Lessons on Living, Loving, and Reaching Your Dreams, was published. He has produced two CDs, appeared on numerous television shows, and is popular on the speakers’ circuit.

Patrick is filled with the music of possibility. We all are. Patrick reminds us of that.

What a fabulous Story. Makes all my excuses for not doing more with my life sound a little feeble. I think I’ll go and revisit my “Woulda-Coulda-shoulda” list and re-define some of the things on it and then transfer them to my “Bucket List”.

Isn’t it amazing when someone comes along and teaches us how to “see” that all thoughts are possible when we believe.

    Thank you for sharing that.

You’re so right, Burton. Lately I’ve been forgetting some of my own possibilities. Patrick and his father have given me a swift, appreciated kick.

When the father said of his son, “He’s my hero,” I lost it. How blessed they each are to have one another. Thank you, Cathryn, for sharing this. Wonderful.
